I grant you that Ray Palmer is enough to scuttle a man's faith in stfandom, but there are many examples of sincere pros who do care for science-fiction and fandom apart from anything they may make off of it.

  • 1940 W. Sykora Boost Science Fiction Not Politics in Fantasy News (#81) Jan. 2/1 page image William S. Sykora bibliography

The editor of this paper feels that everything he has done in fandom in the past is perfectly justified because everything he has done and accomplished he sincerely believes has been in the best interests of and for the progress of science fiction fandom. • 1961 W. Breen Among the FMZ in Fanac (#80) Oct. 6 page image Walter Breen

NEOLITHIC 19…this time is dominated by the first part of Redd Boggs's history of stfandom in Minnesota.

  • 1975 L. Fisher Letter 8 June in RUNE (#44) 8 page image

Seems there is a conspiracy among US Post Mesters [sic] against stfandom in general.… We'll have to go UNDERGROUND in order to get decent postal service for stf material.
